Brief introduction on UK Driving Theory Test

Driving Standards Agency of Great Britain has divided the UK Driving Theory Test into 2 sections: The Multiple-choice part and The Hazard Perception test.

Passing either of the two tests will fail you in the whole test, and you will require taking both the tests again.

Multiple choice part theory tests depend entirely on the type of vehicle category that you are seeking to get the driving license. These Vehicle Categories are basically segmented into 3 categories. They are:
1. Car
2. Motorcycle
3. Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV)/Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV)

If suppose an individual may wish to take a Car License he needs to give a Car theory test where the questions which he may face during the theory test may not get repeated in other vehicles category tests.

How to take the multiple choice questions test?

Before you start the test, instructions will be given to you on how to start the test. You can opt to do a practice session on the computer to gain familiarity with the multiple choice questions and how to answer them. You can begin the real test after the practice session.

How to go about answering multiple choice questions?

A question with its possible answers can be seen on your computer screen and you have to choose the correct answer. While some questions require only one answer, others might need more than one answer.

If you are unable to answer any question or need too much of time to choose the correct answer for a particular question, you can move between questions and 'flag' questions, and revert later in the test duration.

What will be the Duration and Passing Score of multiple choice questions Test?

As aforementioned, the questions will depend on what category of license you are hoping for. For car and motorcycle multiple choice questions Test, the duration of the test will be 57 minutes and you have to at least score 43 out of 50.

For Lorry and Bus license, the time allotted will be 1 hour and 55 minutes, and you have to score a minimum of 85 out of 100 to pass the test.
